In August 2010, PLAN (Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada) honored Bertha Miranda and Barbara Buckley.  Bertha Miranda began with a 15 seat cafe in Reno and expanded to a 200 seat restaurant, considered the best Mexican Restaurant in Nevada. She was a dedicated sponsor of scholarships  for high schoolers. She is a role model and philanthropist relative to  women having little money or advantages in society and becoming a successful businesswoman who helped  those in need to attain college educations.
